I’m from El Paso, Texas. A small city that sits right on the border with Mexico. El Paso is a desert environment, and I always like to think growing up there has given me a rugged edge to my character. My father and mother came from Mexico and Colombia, respectively. They dreamed that I would grow to speak purely English, but growing up on the border playing soccer, I picked up a lot of Spanish from my teammates. Soccer was my first love of anything and as a kid I dreamed of a career as a player, until COVID came along.
It was my first year in college and COVID swept through the globe, and forced me to retreat into my abode. I was studying accounting at the time and being locked in my house learning how to bookkeep showed me a glimpse into how the rest of my life might play out, I was mortified. To entertain my tortured soul I began watching Game Of Thrones. A flicker of hope sparked inside me, of a life that could be. I decided I could have that life and advised my parents of my plans, to which they regretfully agreed and it brought me to San Francisco.
In San Francisco I began my acting journey at the Academy of Art University. Acting has taught me so much about myself. It has forced me to find different aspects of myself in order to play certain characters. It’s taught me not to judge my characters, which in turn has helped me not to judge others so harshly. It showed me the beauty of collaborating with others. It continually shows me what it means to be alive and I know this journey is just beginning.
